Yingchun Zhu has practiced Chinese law since 2008. Zhu leads the firm’s real estate work, and acts for private companies on complex civil and commercial disputes and on the governance of family businesses.
Zhu’s career began in-house rather than in private practice — in the legal department of a Beijing industrial park development zone, and at a property development company. That placed Zhu on the operating side of the questions now advised on: how an industrial park is run, how land is assembled and prepared for development, how a construction project is procured and delivered, and how a development company is managed and financed. It is why the advice starts from what a project can actually support, and not only from what the law permits.
Much of that work is for businesses where ownership, management and family are the same group of people. The legal question in those matters cannot be answered without understanding how the business is run, which is where governance and risk control stop being abstract.
Zhu holds a Bachelor of Laws from East China University of Political Science and Law, and is a practitioner mentor at Northwest University of Political Science and Law.
